A successful mating of CH Chaulait’s Cinderella Man, call name Cinder, and CH Salswift’s Cherokee Rose D’Amore`, call name Keke, will come to fruition sometime during the middle of June. Although this was a planned litter that was postponed (so we thought), Cinder had other plans, and in a very short time (10 seconds), wham, bam, thank you ma’am, the litter was conceived! Obviously the little guy was not to be denied!

We are really excited about this litter since Keke’s first litter with CH Amore’s Rebel Without A Cause, call name Rebel, so far has produced a Grand Champion, 2 Champions, a pointed bitch that needs 2 majors to finish, and a racing champion that has also been featured in print, most recently in Vogue with Seth Meyers.

Keke’s last litter, with Cinder’s sibling, GCH Amore’s Rebel Fighter, call name Sugar Ray, produced two stunning show dogs, and two other show quality dogs that are now family companions!

It goes without saying that Keke whelps some fantastic litters, and we are eagerly awaiting the delivery of this one!

My poor Keke – still has a few days to go. I’m guessing 4-5 babies in there. I feel so sorry for her cause she seems very uncomfortable now. She’s due the 15th or so.

 

The Puppies Have Arrived!

June 16, 2014 – The Keke/Cinder puppies have arrived. Keke was very accommodating and didn’t start hard labor until 10:00 a.m.

Her first puppy was born at 10:40, a red female with white markings. Puppy #1 weighed 7.2 oz and within 10 minutes had gained .2 ozs and is quite chubby this morning (6/17/14).

Puppy #2 arrived just about an hour later, at 11:29 a.m. This is wildly marked red/white female who was quite pudgy upon birth, weighing in at 8.1 oz. She also is quite a good eater and is plumping up beautifully.

Puppy #3 was in a big hurry to get things going and was born a mere 8 minutes later, arriving at 11:47 a.m. This puppy is very wildly marked and is either very light seal or very dark blue – time will tell. Puppy #3 is a male weighing 7.5 ozs.

Puppy #4 is another wildly marked male who is red/white. He waited about 30 mins to arrive and was a very healthy 8.2 ozs at birth.

Puppy #5 is a Keke look-alike female, mostly dark red with a bit of white on the back of her neck and white feet and chest. She is the biggest puppy weighing 8.6 ozs on arrival. This morning she is noticeably bigger than the other 4 puppies.

Keke is doing a great job again….she loves being a mama. I have to physically pull her out of her crate to go out to potty and she is the fastest pottier in the west – wants back in with her babies as quickly as possible.

June 22 Update

The puppies are growing rapidly and are plump and healthy.  They’ve all put on 5 to 6 oz in weight since their birth.  On Friday they were taken to the vets for their dewclaw removal and will probably open their eyes by the end of the week.

June 28 Update

Besides eating the puppies are now doing their second favorite activity…sleeping!  All puppies are growing rapidly and should soon open their eyes.

 July 7 Update

The puppies have just reached their third week and now have their eyes and ears open and are starting to roam around their pen. They are looking wonderful and are growing rapidly as evidenced by their tripling their body weights on July 2.

Name changes – these names are for identification purposes and not due to a lack of imagination on our part. Puppy 1 is still puppy 1; puppy 2 is called Fancy Pants (looks like she has lace panties on); puppy 3 is called Bandit (due to his mask); puppy 4 is called Cosmo by his future owner, Dan Clark; and puppy 5 is called Juniorette (due to the fact that she looks like her mother).

Here is puppy 1, who Lorraine call Long Gloves. She is the smallest of the puppies, but is also the most active.

Here is puppy 2, aka Fancy Pants.  It appears that her prominent red spot on top of her head may disappear as she matures.

Here is puppy 3, formerly known as Roy, but has now been named Cosmo by his new owner Dan. His previous IG was Comet, so its name follows a cosmic theme.

Here is puppy 4, who is currently known as Bandit due to mask over his eyes.  Bandit is another boldly marked dog that will be very striking in the show ring.

Here is puppy 5, called Juniorette or Clone, due to her resemblance to her mother, Keke.

On Wednesday the puppies will get their first taste of solid food, so this should be an interesting event.

July 11 Update

Today the puppies had their first taste of real food and they really enjoyed it! For the next few weeks they will supplement their diet of regular food with Keke’s milk.

July 17 Update

The puppies are growing quite rapidly, are very active, and are getting their puppy dentures in place. It won’t be long before Keke will stop nursing, due to the emerging set of choppers on these puppies.

And we tuckered them out! The missing puppy, Fancy Pants, is buried under the top most puppy, but was not complaining since she was nice and warm!

July 24 Update

Although it’s been five days since we last saw the puppies, we were very surprised at how much they grew over that span! They also scramble about Jeannie’s living room very easily now, so we need to keep track of them at all times!

Since the puppies have passed their 5th week we took photographs of each one, starting with their left side, right side, front side, and their rear side.

Seeing that this was their first experiences on the stacking table they did quite well…at least none of them fell off the table!

 JULY 27 UPDATE

We noticed that Keke has been trying to keep her puppies from nursing, so we asked her why she was turning down her own puppies.  Her answer, “Have you seen their damned teeth?!?
