Gracie’s New Litter
Back in December Lorraine’s bitch, GCH Chaulait’s By The Grace Of Rebel was bred to Karen Chant’s sire, GCH Diavolino’s Lost In The Moment. We are anxiously awaiting the litter which should arrive around the first week of February 2017.
January 29, 2017 – Gracie looks like a keg! Lorraine expects Gracie to whelp her litter by midweek, so we should have photos and information in our next blog entry.
Puppies are here!
Gracie delivered her first puppy this morning at 2:40 am and delivered her last puppy at 6:35 am, with a total of 5, 3 girls and 2 boys. Here are the details:
2:40 am, girl, red, 8 oz, temp name, Lucy.
3:50 am, boy, red, 8 oz, temp name, Luka
4:35 am, boy, red, 7 oz, temp name, Lucas
5:55 am, girl, red and white Wild Irish marked, 6 oz, no name yet
6:35 am, girl, red fawn, 7 oz, no name yet
The 2 boys are virtually identical, with one of them having 2 small white dots on the back of his neck. Lorraine thinks that it will disappear shortly which will make it very difficult to tell them apart. The boys were named after their father, Luc, who oddly enough was originally named Lucy. Well, that name was passed on to the first girl. As for the other two their names are to be determined at a later date.
All puppies appear to be very healthy and are currently feeding. Photos will be taken this weekend and posted shortly afterwards. Stay tuned for periodic updates.

Lorraine: It is hard to believe that just over 24 hours ago all of this mass was in Gracie! What an awesome brood bitch.
Jeannie: No wonder she had trouble breathing, poor girl. On the brood bitch issue, she seems to be taking after her mama Keke.
The unnamed puppies now have names: The Wild Irish bitch is Lucia and the Red Fawn bitch is Luciana.

The puppies are really cute and a couple of them are really starting to push off with their hind legs! In fact, on their second day one of them climbed on top of Gracie and was sleeping there! Notice that all the puppies names start with L! I wonder why Lorraine would do that?
Here is a video of the puppies…enjoy!

Eyes are not open yet but should be any day. Lorraine will be clipping nails for the first time tomorrow. Gracie is feeling much more relaxed about leaving them for longer periods of time. Lucy and Luka are still the most robust with Lucas and Lucia not far behind. Luciana is still the smallest.

Stay tuned for further developments.

Although there are no photos or videos from this past weekend due to the Kennel Club of Beverly Hills dog show, we have some observations on the puppies.
- Their teeth are starting to come in…ouch…poor Gracie!
- They are starting to show an interest in toys.
- They are starting to run.
We will be back next weekend with photos and videos and see what mischief these little puppies are getting into.

Today was a couple of “firsts” for the puppies. They got their first taste of the great outdoors as they romped in the side yard. Next was their introduction to kibbles, which they seemed to have loved. Lastly they got to romp on Julie…and did mention that these little toe munchers now have teeth?
Stay tuned for further news!

Today we had some more fun with these puppies in Lorraine’s back yard. We took videos of each puppy being stacked on the grooming table, and at just under 7 weeks of age they look like they have pretty good form! We then took them inside where they had their first taste of chicken necks. Although they thoroughly enjoyed them they are still a little too young to eat them.
We’ll be back next week with more videos and photos.
April 2, 2017
The puppies are now 9 weeks old and they have grown both in size and physical abilities. They are very active and are now very fast and adept runners, and they delight in chasing after one another and playing tug of war with whatever object they find.
On both a happy note and a sad one (this puppy will no longer grace us with her presence), Luciana, the blue fawn bitch, will be going to her new home in Washington on April 18th.
April 15, 2017
Lucy is headed to her new home in Redondo Beach and Lucas will be going to his new home in San Diego in a few weeks. Lorraine will be keeping and showing Lucia and Luka, so we look forward to seeing them in the ring by the end of the year or the beginning of 2018.
We are planning another litter for this summer, so if you are interested in this litter stay tuned for further announcements.
