Puppies At 1 Week Old
May 16: The puppies are 1 week old and they look like they have doubled their birth weight! They all look very healthy and content, and Gracie, being a first time mother, is taking very good care of her litter.
As of now all the puppies are sightless and deaf; their eyes open between 8 to 14 days after they are born, but it will take approximately 4 – 7 weeks for their eyesight to fully develop. Puppies will have rudimentary hearing at 2 – 3 weeks after they are born, but it will take approximately 5 – 7 weeks for it to fully develop.
The following descriptions of the puppies were from current observations. Their colors are evolving; what we think is fawn may be red fawn, what we think is red may also be red fawn…we’ll have a better idea as they mature. For now we will go with our observations at their birth.
Puppy 1 is a fawn and white boy.
Puppy 2 is a red and white boy.
Puppy 3 is a blue fawn girl.
Puppy 4 is a red boy with a small white collar.
Puppy 5 is also a red boy with a small white collar.
Next week we will have much more information, observations, photos and videos of the puppies. Stay tuned!
